Report 6th of February PDF Print E-mail

Friday, 6 February, 2009, 12.45p.m.

Existing members assembled at the IT lab just 5 minutes after the bell for the end of morning session rang. Many of the students who registered on GERKO day showed up as we can see many new faces.

Timothy and the gang ushered the crowd into Computer Lab 2, just to make sure the crowd doesn’t go out of control. The AJK’s then went in into the Cyber Lab to prepare the interview ‘arena’.

Six stations are set up in the Cyber Lab. Timothy gave us a fast explanation on how should we interview the interviewees. Then, few by few, the new students came in for the interview. I can say that the interview went very smoothly, and the students who answered are quite good.

There was then a problem, not all the students were interviewed, as the time was short. Timothy then have to explain to the other students that the interview was just a procedure. After that, a quick introduction was made so that the students know the AJK’s and the website’s URL.

Then, the meeting was ended, and the afternoon session students left the lab to enter the hall. A short meeting was then conducted by our teacher, Pn Chan Yoke Bee.

After that, we saw some videos, and headed home.

Gerko Day 09- Are You In For This? PDF Print E-mail
Written by JoFan
Saturday, 24 January 2009 00:53

Themed 'Are You In For This?', Itanium Solutions first Gerko Day was declared a success with the total number of new recruits of (according to 'someone') more than 160. Besides having new recruits, which was our main objective of the day, we also managed to successfully introduce our newly formed club to CHS with the tremendous respond we received from the all-popular Hunt/Lucky Draw. Parcitipants had to go around the hall in search for our people in charge, who then asked them questions about our club, which most of them answered correctly. The activity was truly an ingenius idea to gain the student's consciousness of our existance.

The day started with the typical blurness and communication breakdown where people on duty were confused whether they have to go for assembly or not, but most of our guys went for assembly while the board decor department proceeded with their job (it isn't some SIMPLE job AT ALL, ask those who did it..) , which took the next hour plus to complete. Through that we have learnt a lesson (listen carefully juniors) which is to do the decoration on sugar papers first and just stick it up on the board right on the day, saves you tonnes of time and work. Another task that ran simultaneously was the flyer cutting task, which was a total joke to cut stacks of them on the day itself with limited scissors. There, another lesson learnt, prepare the flyer at least a week before gerko day and other than that paper cutters are better than scissors.

Here's the season to be jolly.... Smile

A very Merry Christmas to all visitors and members of Itanium Solutions! I hope everyone from all walks of faith alike are indulging in the Christmas festivities.

As the holiday season inevitably comes to a close, a simple update as to the current ongoing projects in the works here at Itanium Solutions. The CHS Cyber Games 2008 winning tees are approaching completion and will be distributed in early January 2009 to all participants of this year's winning teams. A round of applause to project managers Kyle and JoFan who have endured much stress and time constraints in producing these tees. Also, preparations for Gerko Day 2009 are presently underway as members have begun to receive task assignments as teams to work on within the next 3 weeks. Time goes by fast, so get started, guys!

Sincerely,

Timothy Goh
