Yet again, a report for Itanium Solutions meeting conducted on 21 August 2009. For those who were absent on this day, these words below might be of good reference to catch up with our courses.

1. Itanium Solutions Installation

We had a short discussion finalising all the aspects of our installation to be held on 22 August 2009 at Timothy Goh's house. The number of attendees has been confirmed - 24 people coming. Members have a choice of either paying RM10 as contribution to the barbeque or bringing their own food that amounts to an equivalent of RM10.

Activities to be held on that day are to be: LAN Party in the afternoon; outdoor activities in the evening; dinner at around 7pm-8.30pm and movies at night. The installation should end at 10pm.

This is a report for the Itanium Solutions meeting held on 14/7/09. I decided to give the title a tinge of craftiness to keep all readers interested and I hope that you will continue reading.

1. The Itanium Solutions Annual Evaluation Test

Results were announced today. Results have improved compared to last year. The top score this time is 39/50 and the proud holder is our Webmaster, Yeo Jun Rong.

2. Lessons: Cooling Systems Part 1

Lessons were indeed resumed today and we went through the cooling systems. We learned about the theory and purpose of overclocking which is largely related to cooling systems. Going on, we eventually learned about heatsinks and the fans that cool our PC. We even went through some enhancements to the cooling systems including heatpipes and thermal paste.

ANNOUNCEMENT

I am a devoted member of Itanium Solutions, ever since the time of the late Elecom Club in the year 2006. I have given various contributions to the club in the form of human resource, intellectual and even material. Also, I have served the club as the Afternoon Representative in the year 2007, Assistant Secretary in the year 2008 and most recently as Secretary for the year 2009. I have faced the thick and thins with Itanium Solutions (formerly Elecom) in the past years, and I proudly consider myself as a survivor in this aspect.

Having been in Itanium Solutions, it’s not only about learning everything related to IT, nor is it about a person being far more knowledgeable than others. As obscure as it may be, I believe being in Itanium Solutions has always been about finding solutions on maintaining a club as a whole in a deeply technical manner, through both active participation and contributions, hence the word ‘Solutions’ in Itanium Solutions. Back in the days of Elecom, when the Public Addressers were still a dominant part of the late Elecom Solutions, although our departments faced an abundance of difficulties in communications when planning joint ventures, solutions were still always conjured up through undying efforts, which made many things possible. It was not until late 2008 that communications between departments had broken down beyond the point of no return, and both departments decided to part separate ways. From then on, Elecom was no more.
