Installation 2010 on Tuesday, September 7th

All this while, I've always disliked art class due to my inability to catch up on the different techniques and handicrafts. However, I am now obsessed with PAINT. Especially those can come in wooden crated and form spherical pellets to be propelled by high-pressure air

At 9.00 on this Tuesday morning, our annual Itanium Solutions 2010 installation was officially started with a 2 hour game of paintball. Despite only 9 members were able to attend this first event, after sending out several invites to ex-members as well as close friends, safe to say we managed to pull together a slightly bigger group of 12 players. Luckily, all presentees were up to speed and had brought along the necessary items to play.

With everything set, the playing commenced. The experience was unique and new to most, but in the end, everyone had an amazing time playing together. What else could get your blood pumping besides having bullets sailing towards you at 300 feet per second? Forget BBs, guys. This is the real deal.

After the game, we tidied up and made our way to Shogun Buffet Restaurant in Sunway Pyramid. There, we dined in style with exotic cuisines for several hours. In that time, many interesting events occured (like our president eating a Wasabi oyster and nearly puking) that kept our spirits up. We were also joined there by more of our members.

As the restaurant finally closed it's doors at 3.00, we went to bowl at the Sunway Mega Lanes. There, several people, like our ex-president Timothy Goh, as well as a rather surprising Brian Goh, showed off their skills and prowess at bowling, while others watched.

Finally, at 6:15, our installation was officially ended. Most of those present prepared to make their way home, while a choice few stayed back for private reasons.

Today’s meeting began at 12:45p.m. and our attendance was good.

Today’s meeting was mainly about the club installation event which we will be having next Tuesday (7/9/2010) at TT Sports Park and Sunway Pyramid.

· Members who are going must reach school before 7:30 a.m and gather at the 7-Eleven opposite our school or you may go there with your own transport. We will leave school at 7.30am and travelling takes more than an hour so please do not delay us. To those who are going with your own transport, please reach TT Sports Park at 9am.

·Kindly bring along your student card (aka library card/sports card) and your camera (if possible. Requested by Mr. Wong, to have a record). Expenses with student card are cheaper.

·Paintballers - REMEMBER TO BRING ALONG THE WAIVER FORM SIGNED BY YOUR PARENTS. IMPORTANT. Also, please do note that you are not supposed to remove your MASK under any circumstances to avoid injuries.

·All current AJKs are required to attend at least one of the activities. Otherwise, a written letter is required.

·Please arrange your own transport back home.

·Everyone is encouraged to bring RM120 for all the expenses on that day. For members who are going for the paintball game, please remember to bring along an extra set of clothing unless you want to reach Sunway Pyramid with dirty clothing.

Our president, Li Anne, request afternoon session to help out the morning session with CHS Cyber Games.

Our previous webmaster, Chong Yuen Hoy, has been fired due to not supporting club activities, plotting destructive actions against the club and being rude to everyone. He has also joined other clubs and refuses to attend Itanium Solutions anymore.

Therefore, our new webmaster taking his place is Brian Goh from the afternoon session. Congratulations and work hard in your post.

Meeting ended on 1: 15p.m. All AJKs were asked to stay back for a short meeting.

Itanium Meeting Canceled

Due to the Nuzul Al-Quran celebration, this week's meeting is cancelled. Lessons will resume on the 3rd of September, which is next week.

Agenda : Paintball (9am - 11am) , Shogun (12pm - 4pm) , bowling (4pm onwards)

Money to bring : Around RM100

Things to bring : An extra set of clothes, a pair of socks, a big appetite, and all your strength.

To those who wish to attend the Paintball session, you all may meet up with us in school before we head off. For those who do not wish to attend the Paintball session and wish to go to Shogun straightaway, you all may meet us in Sunway Pyramid.

Attention to those attending Paintball session : You are encouraged to wear a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, sports shoes and a cap to help prevent injuries! You are also encouraged to wear old clothes as Paintball gets messy.

Itanium Solutions 15th meeting 2010

Today’s meeting goes on as usual on 12:40pm at the C-block computer lab. Most of the members turn out on our weekly meeting.

Today’s lesson is conducted by Chong Hor Kong on “batch” command. After all explanations, a task is given to members to fortify member’s understanding towards the batch command such as define variable, mix two variables together etc.

The meeting ends at 01:20pm. After that there is a short meeting for the AJKs by the President.

Batch it!

Today's meeting began around 12.45pm. Attendance was lower today due to the fact that trial exams were on the way for the Form 3s and Form 5s.

Nevertheless, the lesson commenced. Today's lesson was about batch files. After a simple introduction about what were batch files and how they worked, students were soon working on theirs. Simple commands like echo, pause, variants, nul and loops were taught.

The students were attentive today. After bringing up the topic of creating never-ending loops with batch files and showing them how to do it, students were soon engrossed in doing just that. Though the effort on learning that up was certainly commendable, let us be reminded that the school computers are of significant age and may not be able to take too many continuous loops in the future.

Due to the fact that it was the Puasa month, class had to end slightly earlier than usual, which was around 1.20pm. After class, there was a short, impromptu meeting with the AJKs to discuss about the upcoming CHS Cyber Games and our installation.

As the Form 3s and Form 5s will be sitting for their trials, installation would not be held anytime soon. Ideas for a lunch or dinner during the Hari Raya holidays were contributed, however, nothing has been confirmed yet. Therefore, please continue to watch the website for updates.

The Sunway UC Workshop

Today, Itanium Solutions made a trip to Sunway University College for a workshop conducted by their School of Computer Technology especially for our club. There were 38 members who made the trip.

All members gathered at the round table at approximately 11.20am, formed four groups and headed to Esso petrol station outside school. We took the bus, which was only 32-seater, so with 38 people, some were forced to stand throughout the ride.

We reached Sunway University College at about 12pm, and we were greeted by a handful of courteous people from Sunway University College. We got into our groups and headed to the canteen for our lunch. Then we headed to the "command centre" CCCL room where we got our briefing and a bag containing our notes. We drew lots and were split into four separate groups, namely A, B, C and D. Each group will spend roughly 35 minutes at a particular workshop and will rotate with other groups throughout the entire workshop.

We were then ushered by Sunway University College student helpers to our respective workshops, namely

After 4 rounds of workshops, we converged at the CCCL room for a conclusion. Here, Sunway University College concluded the workshop by promoting their Diploma and Degree programmes in Computer Technology. Following that, our club presented a token of appreciation to the Sunway UC personnel with a hamper. The session ended with a group photo of all Itanium Solutions members and the trainers.

All in all, it was a very educational experience for all Itanium Solutions members as we absorbed a lot of fresh knowledge from the real computer experts from the highly regarded institute. We had all enjoyed our time at Sunway UC.

The meeting started at 12.40pm. Today's attendance was significantly lower than that of last week's, but it was good nonetheless. Members today were extraordinarily quiet and doing their stuff seriously as told. No one ventured off playing facebook or whatever as they were all so into the internet languages. Another big step in learning internet languages hands-on.

Immediately things started going on with the introduction of an innovation used to style HTML sheets as learned last week. CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) gives the user more options in styling a presentation document written in a markup language like HTML and XHTML.

There isn't much to mention in this report, as members learned almost 100% of their stuff online. The website used: www.w3schools.com - a guideline/tutorial to all early CSS and HTML users.

We went on to learn a bit about Javascript - a programming language. But there wasn't enough time for members to truly understand the gist of it, and the meeting was adjourned at 1.45pm.

In the afternoon, a small meeting was held at class A11 at Block A. Chaired by Vice Secretary Lim Li Anne, the meeting was a general discussion regarding the CHS Cyber Games 2010.

This time 'round, CHS CG '10 will feature two games : Counter-Strike 1.6 and Defense of the Ancients. A booth will be set up on Monday morning for the Form 3's to register and join the competition as a post-PMR activity.

The meeting ended at 3.30pm.

Web lesson no.2 today. Attendance was very good, and members were all very enthusiastic in learning about the world wide web once again with internet access.

Today, we learned a new language - HTML!

HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is the most basic website constructing language. Members learned a variety of basic codes using the very predominant symbols so often.

Several things learned in the lesson today:

- text formatting: bold, italic

- insert picture

- font size and colour

- insert marquee

- insert table

Members were all satisfied with the new skill they acquired, having gone through almost half a year of absorbing hardware knowledge. They finally had a chance to apply what they learned on a computer, and to achieve productivity. It is a very encouraging sign for the juniors especially.

The meeting ended at 1.40pm, as usual.
